Creativity training: "Make your inner critic laugh!"
Creativity is one of the most valuable resources in developing a new attitude and in walking new paths. It is an essential condition for any kind of change and innovation. The objective of the creativity training is to advance creativity, spontaneity and improvisation skills. The training mainly consists of practical exercises derived from the improvisational theater and clown methodology. In this way creativity and spontaneity become substantial. The exercises are supported by theories of neurobiology and psychology, discussed in the group and transferred to work and everyday situations.
Content and methods
Recent neurobiological reserches show that changes are possible if we leave old patterns behind. This is done by watching at things, feeling and acting in a different way then before which means to adopt a new attitude towards life. If we have varieties of options for our actions and thoughts on our hands, we are more likely to respond to standard situations spontaneously and creatively.
As conversation is not sufficient to bring about a change towards a greater diversity the creativity training also offers the opportunity to try out new ways of thinking and acting.
We work with exercises from improvisational and clown theater: there is no right or wrong. Mistakes should be regarded as opportunities! They are an inevitable part of the learning process. The participants are encouraged to leave the beaten tracks. So the training is more about getting to know one's own creative response and to expand it. The participants experience that they can rely on themselves and on their creativity.
This leads to an expansion of the perception: things can be viewed from a different angle (for example, with the eyes of a clown, and not with those of the inner perfectionist).
Playing helps to be open and to accept and emit impulses without the constant urge to listen to the inner censor. Fun and new ideas are guaranteed.
